My name is Angel Tadeo Serrano, and I am from Tucson, Arizona. I am the son of
two immigrant parents. My parents have taught me the value of hard work and
dedication, and how it is vital in order to achieve your goals.
I attended Salpointe Catholic High School, and took classes that involved various
computer programs, which sparked my interest in technology. I began working at
Amazon Warehouse after graduating from high school and I still hold a position there.
Not long after I started working at Amazon, I was moved to a different area to expand
my knowledge because I had excelled in all of my required tasks. I went from working
in the dock area to working as a problem solver. While doing so, I used a computer
program to identify and solve product scanning malfunctions. It was here that I realized
I was interested in computer programming. I talked to multiple employees in IT, which
led to an interest in cybersecurity as well. I decided that this was what I wanted to
study.
I came across Codefy through Chicanos Por La Causa and decided to pursue the
opportunity. I am extremely grateful to have been accepted and am excited to be
learning about something that I am passionate about. I also plan to take more classes
at a community college and earn a bachelor's degree in this field. Through school and
previous work experience, I have learned good communication skills, multitasking, and
tenacity, and I am excited to see where my journey in software development will take me.
